About the Center for Social Sciences
The Center for Social Sciences (CSS) was founded in November 2003 as spin-off of Social Sciences Support Program (SSSP, 2000-2003) at Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).
The CSS is a network institution of Higher Education Support Program of Open Society Institute in South Caucasus. Mission of CSS is to prepare a highly qualified next generation of social science scholars and practitioners, and in so doing aid to form civil society in the conditions of internationalization of Georgia.
The CSS approaches are to
• improve the level of research and teaching in social sciences,
• reform in higher education, and
• build the awareness and values of the open society and human rights in globalized world.
