Bio: George Khelashvili cooperates with CSS since 2003. He was the Director of Academic Programs at CSS in 2003-2006. George coordinated academic development of new regional English-language interdisciplinary Master’s program in Social Sciences: Transformation in the South Caucasus. He also was an assistant-Professor and head of IR Department at Tbilisi State University in 2005-2006. He has worked as policy analyst at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. As a visiting fellow at Monterey Center for Non-Proliferation Studies, he wrote extensively for Georgian newspapers and worked as journalist for TV company Rustavi 2, as well as for IREX. George's academic interests include International Relations theory, Caucasus regional studies, American foreign policy, and security issues in the post-Soviet space. He concentrated on reforming the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Tbilisi State University.
Koba Turmanidze, PhD candidate, Political Sciences Department, Central European University; Master degree in Political Sciences, CEU
Position: Director of Caucasus Research Resource Center in Georgia (CRRC), Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tbilisi State University.
Bio: Koba Turmanidze cooperates with CSS since 2005. In January-July, 2007 he was a coordinator of regional graduate interdisciplinary English-language Master’s Program: Transformation in the South Caucasus. He has actively participated in development of curriculum of regional Master’s program TSC, as well as development of CSS recourse center and library. He also supervised several students of regional Master’s program Transformation in the South Caucasus in their MA thesis writing and held Research Seminars for whole group. Koba is also AFP Returning Fellow from 2005 and works with CSS and Political Sciences department on the development of BA and MA programs’ curriculums. He is teaching at FSPS, TSU Research Methods courses both on BA and MA level. From 2007 he became a director of the CRRC in Georgia and has been overseeing the social research projects implemented by CRRC in the country. From September 2008 Koba became a candidate of PhD modular program in Political Sciences at Central European University.

Bio: Khatuna Salukvadze cooperates with CSS since 2005. She coordinated “Transformation in the South Caucasus” track of Interdisciplinary English-language Master’s Degree in Social Sciences (MSocSc) in 2007 - 2008. Khatuna has held research and teaching positions at Johns Hopkins University and Tbilisi State University. Her fields of expertise include the governance, leadership and the administration of public agencies, Caspian region politics and security, European security and cooperation, foreign policies of the USA and EU.
Lika Tsuladze, PhD in Sociology, TSU
Position: Associate Professor, at the Faculty of Social and Political Studies, Tbilisis State University. Head of Sociology Department, Institute of Demography and Sociology at Ministry of Education of Georgia.
Bio: Lika Tsuladze cooperates with CSS since 2004. She is a Curriculum Development Competition (CDC) grantee of the Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) at the Central European University. She is involved in the INTAS project on Patterns of Migration in the New European Borderlands, the UNFPA project on Male Reproductive Health Survey in Georgia, and the DFID, OSGF, and GAC Trust project on Theatre of Changes. She defended her PhD thesis in 2004 on socialization issues (autonomy and sanctions) in the context of Georgian culture at Tbilisi State University. Her current research focuses on youth subculture in Georgia and she is developing a course on Sociology of Subcultures for graduate students.
Ketevan Vashakidze, Master of Social Sciences in Public Policy, Columbia University
Position: Director of Eurasia Partnership Foundation in Georgia.
Bio: Ketevan Vashakidze cooperates with CSS from 2005. She has been teaching at Tbilisi State University (TSU) since 1998. Apart from a Masters Degree in International Affairs with concentration in Social and Economic Development and Policy Analysis from Columbia University, she has also undertaken Ph.D. studies in Social, Economic and Political Geography at TSU and Edinburgh University. Ketevan managed higher education reform programs across Central and Eastern Europe, newly independent states of the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia. She worked as a consultant for the Government of Georgia, the Word Bank Group and various NGOs and universities in Georgia as well as for the UNDP Regional Centre in Bangkok and UNICEF in NYC and Bolivia. At present Ms. Vashakidze is the Director of Eurasia Partnership Foundation in Georgia.
Nana Macharashvili, Candidate of Political Science, Tbilisi State University

Bio: Nana Macharashvili cooperates with CSS from 2004. Her PhD thesis is International Experience of National Reconciliation and Georgia. Nana Macharashvili is the Returning Scholar of the Academic Fellowship Program since 2005. Nana Macharashvili cooperates with the CSS from 2004. She is the author of the newly established course in Public Policy Analysis. She is actively involved in the training programs dedicated to the Public Policy and Public Administration. Her research interests are The Process of Reconciliation after Violent Conflict, Transitional Justice – hard choice between prosecution and restoration on past human rights abuses, Comparative Public Policy, and the Public Administration reforming issues.
Nino Zhvania, Master of International Relations, Faculty of International Law and International Relations, TSU; PhD candidate
Position: Assistant Professor, Department of IR, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tbilisi State University.
Bio: Nino Zhvania cooperates with CSS since 2004. In 2004-2005 Nino was Public Administration and Policy programme officer at Eurasia Foundation Georgia Office. In 2006 she worked as Private Enterprise Development Programme Officer in the same Foundation. In 2000 – 2003 Nino also worked at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) as a Field Officer for Western Georgia and Samtskhe-Javakheti, and the coordinator of New Approach to IDP Assistance Programme Support Unit. In 2004 Nino was got CSS stipend in Academic Fellowship program for development of a new Master-level course International Political Economy. She has been cooperating with CSS as a lecturer at interdisciplinary Master programs being administered by CSS since 2005 and also actively cooperating with the center in development of the Library of Social Sciences and its Educational resources.
George Welton, PhD in Political Sciences, University of Wales, Aberystwyth
Bio: George Welton cooperated with CSS in 2004-2007. He was a resident Fellow, AFP and Co-Director of Transformation in the South Caucasus in 2005-2006. He was working at CSS on the development of TSC curriculum and coordinated its administration under supervision of Prof. Stephen Jones, the foreign academic supervisor of the program. He also participated in the development of CSS library and educational data bases. His current research focuses on the connection between national identity and the political decision-making in the former Soviet Union. He is also involved in a range of faculty development initiatives across the former Soviet Union. He previously taught a range of subjects in the social and political sciences at Aberystwyth University, Goldsmiths and the Open University.
Timothy K. Blauvelt, PhD, Political Science, State University of New York at Buffalo
Position: Country Director, American Councils for International Education (ACTR/ACCELS).
Bio: Timothy Blauvelt cooperates with CSS since 2006. He first came to Georgia as and American Councils and NSEP Boren Fellow in 1999-2000 to conduct research for his dissertation on citizenship and nationalism in Georgia. He then returned to Georgia in the 2002-03 academic year as a Visiting Fulbright Scholar, and lectured on American Foreign Policy at the Tbilisi State University and the Tbilisi Asia-Africa Institute. He has taught Soviet and post-Soviet history at CSS since the Spring of 2006, and has published articles in that field in Nationalities Papers, Communist and Post-Communist Studies and War&Society.
Sabine Freizer, PhD, Department of Social Policy, the London School of Economics and Political Science
Bio: Sabine Freizer cooperated with CSS in 2005-2006. Her PhD dissertation title was “What Civil Society After Civil War? A Study of Civil Society Organizations’ Effect on Peace Consolidation in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Tajikistan”. She worked as community development coordinator at democratization department in Sarajevo OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Hezegovina, in 1997-98. Sabine also was legal expert at OSCE Central Asia Liaison Office in 1999-2000. In 2003 Dr. Freizer became a political advisor in Baku, Azerbaijan, for Elections Observation Mission to the Azeri Presidential Elections. In 2004 she became International Crisis Group (ICG) director in Georgia and managed offices in Tbilisi, Baku and Yerevan and worked for ICG till 2007. From 2005 she started cooperation with CSS as a guest professor delivering lectures in International War and Peace for regional program Transformation in the South Caucasus.
George Gogia, PhD candidate, Chavchavadze Tbilisi State University; MA in Political Science at Central European University, Budapest
Bio: George Gogia cooperated with CSS in 2005-2007. He was Caucasus Political Analyst at International Crisis Group Caucasus Project in 2003-2007. He investigated and wrote Crisis Group's reports and briefing papers on the political, economic, social and legal situation in the Caucasus region (Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan); From 2007 he’s been working as a consultant for Human Rights Watch. He was involved in regional Master program Transformation in the South Caucasus as a guest professor in 2005-2007 delivering lectures and seminars in International War and Peace together with Dr. Freizer. His research interests include unresolved conflicts in the South Caucasus and Balkans, and international responses to them.
Tinatin Zurabishvili, PhD in Sociology of Journalism, Moscow State University
Position: Professor of Sociology at Telavi State University, Georgia; Data Initiatives Regional coordinator, Caucasus Research Resource Center; Head of Quality Assurance Unit, Telavi State University.
Bio: Tinatin Zurabishvili cooperates with CSS since 2004. In 2004-2005 she was a visiting scholar at University of California, Los Angeles Department of Sociology. She taught at Telavi State University for two years. Tinatin was AFP returning fellow and started cooperation with CSS in 2004. In 2004-2005 she got a fellowship through CSS Academic Fellowship competition for developing course for Master students in Qualitative Research Methods, which was published as extended syllabus in 2006. She is delivering lectures in research methods in social science for both modules: Transformation in the South Caucasus and Gender since September 2005. As an expert she also participated in a number of CSS translation projects and was a member of editorial team for translation of “Statistics in Behavioral Sciences”. Dr. Zurabishvili was also actively involved in the development of CSS library and educational resources.
Akaki Dvali, MA in Political Science, Monterey Institute
Position: Senior Adviser of Presidential Administration of Georgia.
Bio: Akaki Dvali cooperated with CSS in 2005-2007. Apart from MA studies at the Monterey Institute of International Studies, he has also undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Law and extensive professional experience in Georgian government and international cooperation. He previously held senior level positions with the Ministry of Defense of Georgia, the Ministry of Interior of Georgia (Interpol) and the National Security Council of Georgia. He was involved in regional Master program Transformation in the South Caucasus as a guest professor in 2005-2007 delivering lecture course in Methods for Policy Research and Analysis.
Hans Gutbrod, PhD in International Relations
Position: Regional Director of Caucasus Research Recourse Center.
Bio: Hans Gutbrod cooperated with CSS in 2004-2007. He has been working in Georgia for about three years and has traveled extensively across the region. He currently specializes in Higher Education issues and in teaching Advanced Methodology, both in an academic and a professional setting. He has written a Handbook for Professional Communication which has been published in Georgian and Bulgarian and is being translated into several other languages. Previously he has worked for OSCE, done various consulting and also helped to set up a small Liberal Arts college in Berlin. Hans holds a Ph.D. and a B.Sc. in International Relations from the London School of Economics. He completed a manuscript on Purposes and Methods of Higher Education. He was actively involved in regional Master program in Social Sciences Transformation in the South Caucasus delivering number of lecture courses and seminar in 2004-2007.
Bio: Maia Kalandadze graduated from Tbilisi State University, Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. Upon graduation she started to work at the Chair of Foreign Languages of Tbilisi Academy of Sciences. In 2000 Maia received a grant from Open Society – Georgia Foundation Social Sciences Support Program to design courses in English for Specific Purposes and Academic Writing. The same year Maia travelled to Central European University in Budapest where she created the above programs under close supervision of the Head of the Department of Languages at CEU. Maia delivered lectures for faculty members and MA students of Social Sciences of I.Javakhishvili State University up to 2005. She has published her own book in English Academic Writing in 2007 and she is presently continuing her collaboration with Center of Social Sciences delivering classes in the above course. At the same time Maia is working at Georgian University and she is a PhD student of the same institution. Maia has participated in several international conferences.
David Abesadze, PhD in Political Science
Position: Assistant Professor of the Department of Human Georgraphy, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, TSU, Head of Policy Analysis Division in the Political Department of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Bio: David Abesadze cooperates with CSS since April 2008. He holds BA, MA degrees in Human Geography, and Ph.D. degree in Political Science from Tbilisi State University; MA degree in Political Science from the Central European University (Budapest). He has been a fellow of non-degree programs of Stanford University and Georgetown University; and a visiting scholar at the George Washington University. Currently he is an AFP fellow.
Dimitri Gugushvili, MSc in Policy Studies, University of Edinburgh, MSocSc in Politics of Social Changes, TSU
Position: Social Policy and Economics Project Officer, UNICEF.
Bio: Dimitri Gugushvili cooperates with CSS since July 2008. He is a public policy researcher focusing on social policy issues. After having completed his master’s course in policy studies at the University of Edinburgh, Dimitri has been undertaking a number of freelance social policy consultancies for donor organizations in Georgia . In addition, he has worked for the Government of Georgia and UNICEF. His current research interests include development of welfare regimes in developing countries, impact of structural adjustment policies on poverty and post-communist transition.
Tamar Khuntsaria, Masters degree in Public Administration; Bowling Green State University, US; Master of Science Degree by Research from the University of Edinburgh, UK with concentration in European Studies (OSI/Chevening/University of Edinburgh Fellow)
Bio: Tamar cooperates with CSS since 2008. Her professional experience includes working at international and non-governmental organizations. In recent years, she managed several reform programs in education, media and telecommunications sectors in Georgia. She also held a position of Foreign Relations Director at the Georgian Public Broadcasting. At present Ms. Khuntsaria is a Representative of the EU-Georgia Business Council (EUGBC) in Georgia. She was Academic Fellowship Program (AFP) fellow at the Center for Social Sciences (CSS) in 2008-2009.
Micheil Tokmazishvili, Doctor of Economic Sciences from Tbilisi State University
Bio: Micheil Tokmazishvili cooperates with CSS since September 2005. He is a Member of the Council of the National Bank of Georgia and Senior researcher at the Foundation Case-Transcaucasus – Center for Social and Economic Research. He was Head of Department of Macroeconomics of the Budget office of the Parliament of Georgia, the country manager of the program “Social Policy Reforms in the Transition Economies” - of the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank in Georgia. He worked in the Academy of Sciences of Georgia at the Paata Gugusvili Institute of Economics. He served as professor at the various universities of Georgia. His academic interests include economies in transition, international relations, monetary policy issues.
Anna Tabidze, Masters degree from the University of Groningen, the Netherlands major in International Law and the Law of International Organizations
Position: “Mgaloblishvili, Kipiani, Dzidziguri” Law Firm; Caucasus University, School of Law.
Bio: Anna Tabidze cooperates with CSS from September 2008. Before obtaining the Masters degree from the University of Groningen, she graduated from Tbilisi State University, faculty of International Law in 2005. As a lecturer, she started in 2005 at Caucasus University, School of Law. In terms of professional development Anna has undergone: course in academic writing, course on syllabuses and curriculum development, have made written contribution on the topic “Making First Steps in Essay Writing”. For several years already, Anna has been actively engaged in organizing, judging and coaching of international moot court competitions in Georgia. She coached the team from Tbilisi State University during 2007-2008 academic year succeeding to international rounds and qualifying for 24th overall place out of 100 in Washington, DC. Currently, along with being a lecturer I work for “Mgaloblishvili, Kipiani, Dzidziguri” Law Firm.
Sergi Kapanadze, PhD Doctorant, IR department, TSU; Master degree in IR and European Studies, Central European University, Budapest
Position: Deputy Director of the Department of International Organizations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; Assistant Professor, IR department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tbilisi State University.
Bio: Sergi Kapanadze cooperates with CSS since 2004. In 2003-2004 Sergi was working as Junior Fellow at Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies. In 2004 he was a daily editor of English language newspaper “24 Hours”. In 2004-2005 Sergi worked as Policy Anlyst at International Security Department, National Security Council of Georgia and participated in the “National Security Council Reform Project”. In 2005 Sergi became a deputy director at the department for Regional Cooperation, Ministry of FOreign Affairs of Georgia. in 2006 He served as Senior Advisor in Anlytical Group of Administration of the President of Georgia. In October 2006 Sergi became a Head of the Anylytical Department at Foreign Intelligence Special Service of Georgia. From September 2007 Sergi is a Deputy Director of the department of International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affiars of Georgia. In 2004 Sergi became a grantee of Academic Fellowship Program of CSS and got a stipend for development of a new Master course EU Politics that later was introduced in the curriculum of interndisciplinary Master programs of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, TSU, that had been administered by CSS. Sergi also works as a lecturer at Americal University of Humanities and the Institute of European Studies, TSU, MA program in European Studies.
Eka Akobia, Masters degree in International Relations, Baylor University, Waco, TX, US
Position: Research Fellow at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS), Guest professor at IR department, Tbilisi State University, and CSS interdisciplinary Master’s programs in Social Sciences.
Bio: Eka Akobia cooperates with CSS since 2004. Her professional expertise lies in the fields of global security and defense and theories of International Relations. Currently, she is researching EU-NATO relations in the field of security and defense and the possible implications of these dynamics on the South Caucasus region. She is a member of the National Political Science Honor’s Society, Phi Sigma Alpha (USA). After joining GFSIS, she was selected to attend NATO Senior Executive Master course, in Bucharest, Romania which she graduated with honors. In addition, she has attended variouse training courses on security issues at the NATO HQ, and at the Belgian Royal Defense College, Brussels, Belgium. In 2004 she became a fellow of the Center for Social Sciences and worked on development of course in IR Theories in Georgian. Extended syllabus of the course was published by CSS as a supplementary educational material for MA students. Eka was also involved very actively in development of CSS library and its educational resources in 2004-2006.
George Mchedlishvili has been cooperating with CSS since September 2008. He defended the PhD Thesis in World History, Tbilisi State University. George graduated from Harvard Graduate School of Education and was awarded Master of Education Degree in 2001. Concentrations were made on Teaching and Learning, Social policy and planning. He completed his study at Tbilisi State University in 1995 and was awarded Master of Science Degree from Department of Physics. He is AFP returning fellow for IR department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at TSU from 2008. In 2007 George had a fellowship in the Division of Policy Planning and Analysis, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Bucharest. In 2005 – 2008 George worked as counselor at Policy Planning Division, he was a Counselor at Policy Planning Division, Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. In 2004-2007 he worked as lelcturer at Tbilisi Institute of Asia and Africa, teaching „History and Geopolitics of the South Caucasus“.
David Matsaberidze,PhD candidate, CEU Political Sciences Department
David Matsaberidze, earned BA in History (2005) and MA in Culture Studies (2007) at Iv.Javakishvili Tbilisi State University, Georgia and was awarded with MA in Nationalism Studies from the CentralEuropeanUniversity (Budapest), Hungary, in 2008. Currently he serves as an Assistant Professor in Nationalism Studies concentration at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Iv.JavakishviliTbilisiStateUniversity and is working on a PhD project at the Department of Political Science, CentralEuropeanUniversity. He delivers lectures as an AFP Returning Scholarof the Higher Education Support Program, Open Society Institute, for the MA program Transformation in the South Caucasus at the Center for Social Sciences, Iv.JavakishviliTbilisiStateUniversity. He is interested in the post-soviet transformation of the South Caucasus and mainly concentrates on the issues of identity, nationalism and institutional transformation. He is the author of the book “Conflict in Tskhinvali Region (1989-2008): Interaction of Georgian-South Ossetian Nationalisms” published in English by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing in 2010.
Bio: Nino Javakhishvili cooperates with CSS since 2005. One of her main research areas is psychology of gender. She also studies gender issues from an interdisciplinary perspective. She teaches at the only Gender Studies master degree program in Caucasus and is a director of the program. Nino is a member of the Gender Equality Parliamentary Council, she has a long experience of work in non-governmental organizations, is an author and a director of many projects. Nino Javakhishvili had visited a number of universities in Europe and the US, took part in a large number of conferences, workshops and trainings; is an author of 45 publications. Main findings and recommendations of Dr. Javakhishvili were provided to such governmental and nongovernmental agencies, as the ministry of environment protection of Georgia, the ministry of education of Georgia, state social welfare agency, USAID, SIDA and others.
Tamar Sabedashvili, MA Gender Studies, PhD Student, Central European University
Bio: Tamar Sabedashvili cooperates with CSS since 2005. Tamar works on her PhD in Gender Studies at Central European University, Budapest. Since September 2005 she is teaching at the Center for Social Sciences. In January – July 2007 she was a co-director of Gender Master Program being administered by CSS. Tamar participated in development of CSS library and Gender program educational recourses. She also was involved as an expert and scientific editor in a number of CSS translation projects that provided translation and publication of Gender academic titles and reader in Georgian. Her research Interests are Women’s Human Rights, Women and Politics, Domestic Violence, Women and Conflict. She is an AFP Returning Fellow.
Tamar Tskhadadze, Candidate of Sciences in Philosophy, I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University
Position: Research Fellow at S. Tsereteli Institute of Philosophy.
Bio: Tamar Tskhadaze cooperates with CSS since 2007. In 1999-2001 she taught philosophical disciplines at various universities in Georgia. From 2001 to 2008 worked as a teacher and then as an assistant professor at Tbilisi State University. In 2004 and 2005 was a visiting scholar at Stanford University, Department of Philosophy. Has been working and publishing on problems of philosophy of science, history of analytic philosophy, feminist philosophy.
Medea Badashvili, PhD candidate, Department of Human Geography, Tbilisi State
Position: “Save the Children” Small Grants Program Officer.
Bio: Medea Badashvili cooperates with CSS since 2007. Major sphere of her research is Gender Relations in Family and Multy cultural Societies and Human Geography. In 2005-2007 Medea participated in Faculty Development Fellowship Program at Rutgers, New Jersey State University, USA. She was a visiting scholar at Women’s and Gender Studies and Human Geography Departments and worked on the development of Gender courses under supervision of Prof. Joanna Regulska. In 2005 – 2006 Medea Participated in Critical Sociology Network Caucasus Academic project. She also was an expert of United Nations Development Assistant Framework Gender Review (UNDAF). In 2007-2008 Medea worked in the “Save the Children” as an officer of Small Grants Program. She also was involved in UNDP project “Gender and Politics in the Southern Caucasus” as a project associate. From 2006 Medea Badashvili is CSS grantee of Academic Fellowship Program, and has been working on development of Gender courses for interdisciplinary Master’s program in Gender Studies, TSU. She is a Faculty member of Gender Studies program being administered by CSS from September 2006.
Lela Kiria, Master of Sciences in Management, Master of Arts in Gender Studies, Central European University
Bio: Lela Kiria cooperates with CSS since September 2008. Two years after graduating from NYU she applied at Central European University at the Gender Department. Besides working for local and international NGOs on project management, Lela is very interested in teaching gender issues, sharing her knowledge and experience with future generations. At present, Lela is working on the development of courses on gender and management issues for MA students. She is an AFP returning fellow.
Lela Gaprindashvili, PhD in Philosophy, Tbilisi State University
Position: Chairman of The Association "Women's Initiative for Equality".
Bio: Lela Gaprindashvili cooperates with CSS since 2005. She works as a professor of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tbilisi State University. Her research interest encompases the following themes: Current value orientations and status-role distribution in the Georgian family (to be implemented in all regions of Georgia); Correlation between women's rights and responsibilities; Women's roles in the family and the society, and correlation between these two; Non-Georgian families and women's status in them (given Georgia's multi-ethnic nature); Refugee-women's problems; Problems of women-victims of violence; Crimes involving women. Lela is involved in CSS interdisciplinary Master’s program Gender Studies since 2005. She is also consulting Gender MA students in their researchs and also worked as an academic supervisor for one of the students. In spring 2007 Lela was involved in a series of public lecture on Gender related problematic themes, organized by CSS.
Lela Khomeriki
Position: Deputy Director of administration in the sphere of Arts Faculty programs management, Ilia Chavchavadze Tbilisi State University.
Bio: Lela Khomeriki cooperated with CSS in 2005-2007. She was involved in CSS Gender Master’s program as a guest lecturer in 2005-2007 and was delivering intensive seminar in Gender and Politics. This seminar was developed in the framework of CSS Academic Fellowship Programs and published as extended syllabus - supplementary educational material for Gender Students. Lela also worked as a coordinator in Gender related issues at NGO International Centre for Civic Culture (ICCC). Later she became the member of the Board of ICCC and also worked as Executive Director.
Tamar Zurabisvhvili, PhD in Sociology
Position: Regional Development Officer for UNDP;Lecturer at Ilia Chavchavadze Tbilisi State University
Bio: Tamar Zurabishvili cooperates with CSS as guest lecturer of Gender Studies Master's program since July 2008. Since 1999, Tamar Zurabishvili has held a number of teaching positions at Ilia Chavchavadze State University, and Telavi State University, teaching various courses in Sociology. In 2007-2009 Tamar worked as a Regional Development Officer for UNDP Kakheti Regional Development Project, among other duties supervising development of Kakheti Regional Development Strategy. Recently, Tamar has been involved in several studies of labor emigration from Georgia, serving as a consultant for IOM and CIPDD. Tamar has been publishing regularly, as well as participating in conferences both in Georgia and internationally. Tamar has MA degrees both in Media Studies (The New School University, 2005) and Sociology (Moscow School of Social and Economic Sciences, 1999), and Ph.D. in Sociology from Ilia Chavchavadze State University (2008).Currently Tamar is working at Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF).
Tamar Tsopurashvili, PhD in Philosophy, University of Bokhum
Bio:Tamar Tsopurashvili cooperates with CSS from 2009. Since October 2005 she was doing her PhD in Philosophy at the University Bochum (Germany). She has completed her PhD with magna cum laude in 2009. Since 2009 Tamar is AFP Returning Fellow and works with CSS. The courses designed by her are designed for Gender Studies MA Program. She is author of various publications in German and Georgian languages, also of translations from German into Georgian. In 2003-2005 Tamar was teaching at TSU and Ilia Chavchavadze State University. She is member of SIEPM (Société Internationale pour l’étude de la philosophie Médiévale) and Meister Eckhart-Gesellschaft (Meister Eckhart Society). Since 2001 Tamar is a member of Editorial Board of yearbook Philosophical Reflections (Tbilisi).
Salome Tsopurashvili, MA in Gender Studies, Central European University of Budapest
Bio:Salome Tsopurashvili cooperates with CSS since 2008. She completed her under graduate studies at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in French language and Literature in 2006. During 2007-2008 she was studying at CEU.Her research interests are literary theory and criticism, feminist film theories, visual arts. At the moment she is working on developing a course about Gender and Visual arts for master’s level students.
